Shrek
When Princess Fiona was being captured and locked in a tower by a fierce dragon, she was left with nothing but time. She had so much time that she created many stories in how she wanted to be rescued, a beautiful tale on how a prince charming will come with his white horse and fiercely battled with the dragon before saving her. That's her fantasy. She wanted it that way. Even when finally someone did come for her, she refused to leave because that's not how her story is suppose to be like! She would rather stay in the tower to keep waiting for what she had expected. Ofcourse the person who came for her was Shrek, an ugly and smelly ogre. Because Shrek persisted, they were free and ofcourse fell in love and ended the story with a beautiful note.
In relationships, many times we are like Princess Fiona, men or women. We spin our own fairy tales on what, who or how it should be like, quite unwilling to let this fantasy go at times, even when someone did come.
For me and Gary, i hold some expectations too but i am open to the story being spun by itself. We didn't expect anything much, just being friends and see what happens next. If i had expected a story on my own, this marriage wouldn't have happened. Friends, why not let the fairy tale speak for itself?! You'll be amazed at the beautiful ending you'll get!
